Big problems often make us feel even smaller. We tell ourselves that we don’t have the resources, the knowledge, the skills, the…fill in the blank, to make a difference in issues with global implications. But not everyone accepts that premise. For those people involved in the Transition Initiative, or Transition Town, underlying its efforts are three basic beliefs:
• Waiting for governments to fix the problem is not the solution
• Acting as individuals, the effort is not substantial enough to make a difference
• Working as communities offers the best opportunity for success.
Joining me today to talk about peak oil, explore what Transition Town means to you and how our local community can prepare for a future that will be cleaner, more local, and run on a human-scale are Lindsay and Erik Curren, co-founders of TransitionVoice.com
